The Racore M8195 Fiber Optic PCI Token-Ring Network Adapter uses
fifth generation IBM token-ring technology for reliable and
compatible network operation. It functions with IBM token-ring
drivers included with many popular operating systems as well as being
100% driver compatible with IBM 16/4 Token-Ring PCI Adapter 2 with Wake
on LAN
With support for Wake on LAN, OnNow, Remote
Boot, and unattended install, the Racore M8195
Fiber Optic Token-Ring Adapter allows the best
of simple installation, ease of maintenance,
and secure, reliable operation. Built in LED
indicators assure that the fiber cable is
connected properly, and indicate any error
conditions.
The M8195 conforms to PCI 2.2 bus standard allowing universal power support with PCI Hot Plug capability, supporting both Wake On LAN, using legacy WOL power connections found on many systems, as well as OnNow ACPI. OnNow requires a PCI 2.2 compliant system, and must have PME support on the host PCI bus to provide auxiliary power to the adapter.
The M8195 supports both the IEEE 802.5j fiber optic token-ring standard,
as well as the IEEE 802.5 standard for traditional STP wired networks.
It can also support RJ-45 UTP cables using a media filter adapter
(available separately).

With redundant NIC capabilities, and HotPlug support, critical systems can have on line fail-over network support, and backup adapters can be removed and replaced without the need to power down servers.
The automatic ring speed detection feature will detect the current ring speed even when the ring speed is manually set. This will prevent attempted insertion into an operating ring at the wrong speed, which prevents network disruptions and
beaconing rings caused by incorrect ring speed. Automatic ring speed selection will connect at the best speed to speed sensing DTR switches, allowing for optimum network throughput.
